Variety is the word for today. The day started off cool with high cloud, but by 10.00 this had burned off and the heat returned. Although the temp at our destination was only showing 31°.

Variety in the pilgrims we met on the way. Americans from 3 different states, Germans, French etc.

Variety in the crops we passed wheat, olives, grapes, potatoes, peas and hops.

Vatiety in paths we followed tarmac, stones and dried mud.

Today was a late start as we only have about 12km to walk. However by the time we’ve walked around the town to find what we need for tonight it’s added another 4km.

After all our fussing around we didn’t get what we needed so an hour & 4km wasted.

Today the walk seems never ending as we leave Logrono via a main road full of people and traffic. It’s surprising how quickly you get used to the quietness of the Camino.

We also met up with the Asian lady on her bike again.

I awoke with a jump when the alarm went off at 7.30 this is the first day I haven’t already been awake.

I popped up the road for breakfast and we also had a coffee before leaving.

Today was again warm but not quite as hot as yesterday but there isn’t a town for 12km.

The heat has finally got to Jo. After her blog no more needs to be said.

Today we leave our place of rest without breakfast, as it wasn’t served until 9.00. However the did have a coffee vending machine at €0.70 a cup. So after spending €2.80 we are off.There were many small tow s along the way so also many chances to pick up some breakfadt and lunch.As the days go on it is getting hotter. So we look forward to ariving at our destination. It doesn’t matter how far we walk each day it is always the lazt 2km that seem to be the hardest.Tonight we cooked our own meal and with the beer it wasn’t much less than us having the pilgrims menu, but it was a change from chicken and chips.Forgot to mention we stopped off at a wine fountain today. Today is going to be hotter so we planned to get away earlier to avoid walking in the hottest part of the day.

Well that idea didn’t work as it was still past 8.00 before we left.

We had tried to book a room at 17km but were requested to give them our credit card details. Not wanting to do this we had left repying to them. During the morning we received an update saying the room had now been taken. So we decided to chance it for tonight.

Along the way not only did we walk over water we also walked under it.

Although we took it gently we still made good progress and infact decided to walk an extra 5km.

We have a nice cosy room to ourselves, although Jo calls it claustrophobic.

Well today it is back off and onto the road again. We have had a couple days rest in Pamplona. 1. Jo had a sore knee and 2. I had man flu ie a cold.

The rest did us both good and the weather has been kind to us. It is starting to warm up and we will have to remember to reapply the sunscreen.

There were lots of wind turbines today and like in NZ there is a long steep walk up to them. There was however a steeper walk down the other side.

The amazing thing about the Camino is you never know what’s around the next corner.

We stopped in Pamplona for a rest day only to find it is the start of the International Festival of Bands.

Today is a rest day in more ways than one.

We visited a doctor today regarding Jo’s knee and she was advised to rest it for 2 days.

So a further night has been booked in Pamplona and we will both be resting up, but we will still do a little site seeing.

What a difference a day makes. We awoke to a brighter morning and by the time we had finished breakfast the remaining mist had lifted.

We started off at a cracking pace. There was no stopping Jo. Instead of being overtaken by other walkers we were actually doing the over taking.

We found a nice spot to stop for lunch.

And then continued on our way to Pamplona.

Unfortunately we couldn’t keep the pace up and Jo started to suffer from her earlier exertions.

We did however make it without calling for a taxi and we have a rest day tomorrow.

We found a nice square in town surrounded by bars/cafés we chose one had a beer and some tapas while watching the world go by.
